Week 6 Learn From Home Assignments
Week of April 20-April 24 Due Date: Friday, April 24 @ 5pm
This week begins a 3 week project to wrap up the end of the year!**NOTE THAT MY INFO ON THE ORIGINAL ASSIGNMENT INFO ON THE VIDEO STATES 4 WEEK, BUT I HAVE CUT REQUIREMENTS AND CONDENSED DUE TO GETTING OUT OF SCHOOL ON MAY 8** Don't start panicking or feel overwhelmed...I have it broken down into 3 parts.
I created a 4 part tutorial (I could only record for 15 minutes or less in each video). I would suggest watching it all together so you know what to expect and then for each part, revert back to the part of the video you need. AGAIN - IF I SAY 4 WEEKS, DISREGARD. SEE INFO BELOW ABOUT PRESENTATION METHOD. Below is a bulleted breakdown so it is easier to read:
Below you will find a break down of the assignments and the documents I mentioned above. In the first video, I go through the documents I included below. I know this is A LOT, but don't stress, just try to stay on pace each week. I HAVE opened up Week 6 and will open up Week 7 midweek so you have access to the requirements for next week if you want to work ahead, but you do NOT have to! I am SO excited to see what you come up with and can't wait to see your creativity!

- You will be revamping a logo for a company of your choice. The company I chose is Adobe. I'm obsessed with their products which is a good thing as I use these programs throughout my HS classes.
- I created a tutorial (part of the 4 part tutorial) to SHOW you how to use Canva (if you choose to use this web program). You can also use something as simple as Google Docs (upload your doc and download the Doc as a PDF instead of a JPG or PNG when directed (info is in the directions). Be creative, but don't over think it!
- The majority of the 4 part tutorial deals with Weebly. You used Weebly last year, but just in case you forgot or don't have your user name an password and need to make an account, I have described how to create a new account, choose a theme, rename and add pages, and how to build your pages. **IMPORTANT TAKEAWAYS: when you are creating your page, REMINDER: make sure to choose the SUBDOMAIN option as it is completely FREE (even though the DOMAIN says it's free, you will have issues when publishing). When you publish, make sure to copy and paste THIS link to a Google Doc to turn in so I can view the website. I suggest publishing, copying and pasting the link and viewing yourself FIRST. When you turn this in at the end of the 3 weeks, I expect this to work as you will have plenty of time to test.
- 3 Week Breakdown:
- Week 1: THIS WEEK - April 20-24: View all documents so you know what I'm expecting each week. This week you will pick your company, research who designed/how the logo came to be. Research the meanings of color in advertising (look online for the meanings, just a quick search), Research Serif vs. Sans Serif fonts (look online - literally look up serif vs. sans serif), Revamp the logo of your choice, on a Google Doc, copy and paste the current logo and insert the logo that you revamped. You can use an online website such as Canva or 99designs (or anything else you want to use) OR use Google Docs. Use the tutorial for Canva I have included below. Type up an explanation based on the requirements in the assignment explaination document below and the Week 1 Checklist. Submit your logo document (in whatever format you use).
- Week 2: April 27-May 1: Create a business card design and an ad/poster design using the logo you created. Requirements are on the assignment explanation/Week 2 Checklist. Submit your business card and ad poster design (in whatever format you use).
- Week 3: Create a Weebly website. Use the tutorial I have included below. **YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CREATE A PRESENTATION, JUST COMPLETE THE WEBSITE AS DESCRIBED.
- Each week I will post the full assignment description document, a weekly checklist, and the tutorials so they are all in one spot. This week I am including the Grading checklist that I will be using to grade you each week.
- MY WEBSITE EXAMPLE IS: https://adobe2020.weebly.com
- Weekly Communication: There is a required Zoom this week on Tuesday at 10:45. We can go over the assignment and any questions you have. You might have questions that others haven't thought of yet.
